Last week we headed to town to do some shopping. High on my agenda was getting a window air conditioner to replace the one we had because it wasn’t working and my father in law had assured me that it would be more expensive to repair than to buy a new one (can you see where I am going with this?).
Because I don’t love shopping, and hate it even more when I have the Country Boy and 3 kids in tow, I had done my research, so it took less than an hour (with poor customer service included) to buy and load into the car.
We had a good time in town, doing other bits and pieces, and got home around dinner time.
The following day, Country Boy and his father set about removing the old unit and putting the new one in. They got as far as pulling the old one out when they discovered the most enormous wasps nest, which unsurprisingly, was preventing the air conditioner from working. Half an hour spent knocking the mud out, followed by a quick clean with the air compressor, and the original air conditioner was working again.
It seemed silly to put a new one in when the existing one already fits perfectly, so the old one was reinstalled, and we have a new, unopened box air conditioner still in the back of our car. My mother in law tells me that this sort of thing is a fairly frequent occurrence around here!
I’m sure there is a moral to this story, but in the interest of keeping the peace, I will leave it up to you to work out what it is!
Does this sort of thing happen to you all the time?
