Country Boy is a plant lover. It is just in him. I don’t understand it really, though perhaps it is like cooking and teaching is in me. But then again, probably not. Around the farm there are trees that hold special meaning to him. Trees he planted with his grandfather, trees that were planted for a special occasion. He looks at the trees and remembers.

On Saturday we went out to plant a tree line in one of the paddocks when he informed me that he had planted about 100 trees on the farm since we moved here in December. Not a bad effort.
Planting trees is fun for the whole family. The kids love doing it, and Country Boy always makes it fun for them. They help carry the wire guards (to stop the sheep eating the plants), plant the trees in the ground, and do other bits and pieces.
It was my job to put the grow tubes around the plants – the tubes help protect the plant a little while they are getting established. Hannah had a go of the camera and this is the most flattering angle she got of me. Note to self: teach Hannah not to take 17 photos of your backside.
In years to come, hopefully the trees will grow big, and our kids will look at them and remember a fun morning spent together as a family. Maybe that is one of the reasons why CB likes planting trees so much!
