Last Thursday Country Boy dropped me at the airport. Several planes and hours later, I found myself on the Gold Coast for the Problogger conference. It felt strange to sit and read a book on the plane instead of trying to entertain a three year old, and I felt out of place with all these business people madly tapping away on their laptops, looking very busy and important.

Once I arrived and checked in, the rest of the afternoon was spent starfishing on the king sized bed watching trash tv (another benefit of being child free). 90210 seemed a lot racier and cooler when I was 15.

I’ve had in the back of my mind the idea that I could do something more with this blog. What exactly I haven’t been sure about. I know that there are some lovely loyal readers out there (did I mention also seriously gorgeous and intelligent too??), and I love blogging, so I was hoping for some inspiration and the chance to set a clearer path for my blog in the future.

I ended up with plenty of ideas, and a list of things I would like to do.

Over all what I did learn is that if I want to, I can take this blog where ever I choose, providing I put in the hard work. So to start off with, I’m getting organised. Maxabella talked about using an editorial calendar to help keep you on track. Hopefully this will help me to be more productive and organised. I’ve also written the outline for a series of posts I want to share weekly. I scribbled it down on Saturday night while I was eating dinner. I couldn’t write fast enough.

I’m going to bite the bullet and move over to WordPress. I’m currently with blogger, but WordPress just offers so much more flexibility to design my blog the way I really want it. With over 600 posts to migrate, and a whole new layout to design, it’s going to take some time, but it’s going to be fun too.

Which brings me to the most important point of all: I began blogging to tell my story. The story of a city wife giving the country life a go. Our life has changed beyond my wildest dreams in the three years I have been blogging. We moved out here to give our family the freedom and space to live the way we wanted. There have been some incredible highs and lows, and through it all I have blogged because it gives me connection, and because I love it.

The next few years of our lives promise to be just as challenging and full of change as the last. We are working towards the time when Country Boy will take over the farm from his father. We talk about what we would like to produce, and how we could make it all work for our family. I have an idea that this blog could contribute to this some how. Problogger helped me to clarify a few ideas that have been simmering away in the back of my head, which I will share once I have a more concrete plan.

What ever happens I know that I’m going to keep on blogging. Even if my plans don’t come to anything, and my editorial calendar falls in a heap, I’ll be here. Sharing stories from the farm. Growing and cooking our own food. Taking way too many photo. Just keeping on, keeping on, for the joy of it. And that is enough for me!
