+ It has been hot here lately. I guess that is no surprise to any one in Australia. Not just a bit warm, but relentless, energy sucking, cranky making hot. I am a summer person all the way. Give me high 20s and early 30s and I am a happy camper. But 37+ degrees (Celsius – that’s around 100 Fahrenheit for those playing along) with no relief is hard to take. It is almost enough to make me want to go back to air conditioned work (almost).
The farm house has one of those box air conditioners which doesn’t work, so I am going to get a replacement ASAP!
+ Our summer harvest is coming along. We have beetroot and zucchinis ready for harvesting. In the next month we will have a lot more too. Country Boy gave me the River Cottage DVD for Christmas, and we are taking inspiration from Hugh (we are on first name basis). Stay tuned on for some new recipes in the coming weeks!
+ I have finished all the back to school shopping after a dash to town to get a replacement piece for the water pump. I’m feeling mighty smug about it too. Now I just need to label about 100 million items. The girls do swimming everyday for the first 2 weeks of term so absolutely every item of clothing needs to be labelled. Meg is beyond excited about starting school. Every few days she tries on her uniform or shoes just to check they are still ok.
+ I cracked it at the kids last night. I hate it when I do it but my goodness I felt justified. They leave a total path of destruction everywhere they go. If you have tips to get kids to pick up as they go, please please share them with me. I am the first to admit that I am not the neatest person on earth, but this has to be seen to be believed!
+ We have nothing planned for the weekend which sounds perfect. I may continue to plough my way through my pile of books. Next week we are heading up to Sydney to see my family for a few days, before my sister returns to SE Asia for another year. I’m also taking the opportunity to go to Ikea *rubs hands together in anticipation*.
