With the year ending today, I feel like I should be writing something profound. One last pearl of wisdom to end the year with. The truth is, I have nothing much profound to say. 2015 was a full year with lots of highs and lows, and I’m sure that 2016 will be similar. Of course I have some goals in the back of my head, both for my family, and this blog, but I will get to them sometime later.
Right now we are enjoying some slow days with my family. As I type, the kids are playing on a hammock under the trees, whilst the adults are reading books, or else sleeping. This afternoon we will probably walk down the hill to the lake and flounder around in the water (swimming seems like a too precise description for what we do), before having dinner on the veranda, and games of cards after the sun goes down. Tomorrow we will do it all again.
We call this place Magic Beach, and for me it really is magical. The magic is in the time we get to spend together with family, away from the busyness of the farm, and life in general. I’m reading, chatting, and taking photos. The kids get to run around with their cousins, and get tonnes of attention from their aunts, uncles, and grandparents. We are focusing on here and now. Whatever next year holds, we will worry about it once it arrives.
So cheers to a new year, and another chance to get it right.
Have your say...
