At this time of year, work is always super busy, and I’ve been getting home late most afternoons. It’s just one of those things with teaching – the job never ends, and there is always more to do, especially at this time of year. On Tuesday evening, as I drove in the gate, I saw Country Boy and the kids down at the dam. The evening light was beautiful so I wandered down to join them.
Country Boy had the fishing lines out and was attempting to catch dinner. It didn’t him take too long to get some fish. Toby was eager to help reel them in, and, after they had been dispatched, to carry them back to the bag. While carrying one fish back, he dropped it on the ground. He decided then to give the fish a wash in the dam, where he promptly dropped it in the water. There was a mad scramble to find a long stick and get itback to the edge of the dam, and then into the bag, where it belonged.
By the time the fish had been caught and cleaned, we were once again running late for dinner (a very regular occurrence around here during the summer months), so we saved them for the following night we wrapped them in foil, popped them on the bbq, and ate them on the veranda, where we once again, soaked in the beautiful evening light.
Have your say...
