Another food hack from the farm house kitchen today! We often use sour cream to finish off dishes – on top of stuffed potatoes, or in wraps. I used to find it really frustrating when we had no sour cream left and I wanted it for a meal, so one time I had a go at making my own. Turns out it is super easy and tastes just as good as the shop bought version.
All you need to do is get 1 cup of thick cream, and add a good squeeze of lemon juice. Stir really well and allow to stand for 15 minutes. You will find that it is ready when the mixture thickens. It won’t be quite as thick as the shop bought full fat version, but will still be thick enough to blob on top of a potato.
It saves me an hour round trip for sour cream, and I bet it would save you a little time too!
Do you have any kitchen hacks that make your life easier? Have you made your own sour cream before?
