Just like that, March is over and done for another year. March is full of community events now that worst of the hot weather has passed, so our weekends have been full of activities. Our harvest is coming to it’s peak, and all our spare moments have been spent dealing with the produce. We are well and truly ready to slow down a little over the coming school holidays.
Making: holiday plans
Cooking: pasata, apple sauce, chutney, sweet chilli sauce. It’s preserving season.
Drinking: hot milo after dinner now that nights are cooling down.
Reading: The Rosie Project, and The Rosie Effect.
Wanting: a break.
Looking: forward to having friends to stay over Easter..
Playing: cricket. Ha!
Deciding: to learn how to crochet properly.
Enjoying: the mild weather.
Waiting: for rain. We need it badly!
Liking: the local agricultural show we went to earlier this month.
Wondering: whether to take our swimmers to the south coast with us next week.
Loving: read and relax each afternoon during the holidays.
Buying: metal poppy sculptures to stick in our garden – they don’t need any watering.
Watching: season 3 and 4 of Northern Exposure.
Hoping: to have a go at making my own cheese these holidays!
Marvelling: that we have got through a fourth summer here on the farm. Time flies when you are having fun.
Cringing: every time we see kangaroos on the road at night. Because it has been so dry, they are out and about more looking for food. Really do not want to run into one in the car.
Needing: more space to store all our preserved food. The freezers (yes we have more than one!) are stacked, and the pantry is overflowing with jars of pasata, jam, chutney, and other preserves…. and we still have more to go!
Smelling: quinces poaching on the stove.
Wearing: jumpers in the morning, but tshirts in the afternoon.
Following: these instagrammers
Noticing: that Hannah is growing up, and becoming more and more helpful and responsible!
Knowing: that the more tired I get, the less coherent I am.
Thinking: about house extensions and renovations. Still.
Admiring: my decorative gourds. If you have been following me on facebook or instagram you will have seen them several times!
Sorting: my winter clothes, the tupperware drawer (again) and the kitchen cupboards.
Getting: rid of junk.
Bookmarking: blog designers – which reminds me I need to get on to that!
Disliking: the dust that the dry ground is producing.
Opening: the chicken coop in the morning to find feathers everywhere and no eggs. It’s moulting season.
Feeling: sore after playing 3 games of cricket in a staff student match. I’m not the most sporty person out there!
Snacking: on apple slinkies after my mum bought us an apple slinky machine last time she visited.
Helping: with the local harvest festival.
Hearing: audio books – all still in high rotation.
I’m taking stock with Pip
