May has been and gone, and we are now into winter… my least favourite season of the year, though I am learning to appreciate it (slowly). May is always a super busy month here on the farm with shearing, and the end of our summer vegetable harvest.
Here are some other things I have been loving this month:
+ Disposable kitchen wipes for the bathroom! Yes I know that this is not really set the world on fire stuff. I was sick of the bathroom vanity getting gunked up with toothpaste etc, and I seem to be unable to train my children to rinse the sink when they have finished teeth cleaning, so I bit the bullet, bought the wipes, and stuck them in the bottom drawer of the vanity. Now I can give it a quick wipe over any times it needs it. What can I say? Small things make me happy!
+ Evenings in front of the fire. Is there anything better than a log fire in winter? Almost makes up for the dirt and dust it creates.
+ I’ve followed the Local Is Lovely blog for a while now. When I was up in Orange a few weeks back, I bought Sophie’s cookbook. Love the stories of local producers, and the recipes. Country Boy made the 12 hour roasted pork shoulder last week, and it was delicious!
+ I’ve mentioned Young House Love before, but these home made wooden play foods caught my eye. I thought of getting some wedge shape pieces for cheese or pie slices. There are so many options!
+ Last month we watched The Hunger Games. Earlier this month I had to take Meg to town for some tests and while we were there, we popped into a few shops, and I may have purchased these…
I started reading the first one on the Thursday night, and then stayed up till 2.30 am to finish it, because I couldn’t put it down. Thank goodness for good classes, because Friday was tiring. I made myself hold off reading the remaining two until the following weekend, and then knocked them out in two days. Love!
+ Fresh cauliflower. Picked by my favourite little chap. Made into skordalia. Yummo!
+ My students introduced me to this on youtube. Absolutely hilarious, if lacking in class a little!
Read The Hunger Games? Do little things make you happy? Have you seen that youtube clip? What have you been loving lately?
