I think that if I had the choice of country town to live in, Orange would be my choice. Except if you asked me in July, when somewhere warm would win. Orange has gorgeous old buildings, all the advantages of a big town (but not too big), and at this time of year, gorgeous Autumn colours.
Back in 2002 Country Boy and I considered buying a house and moving there. We still talk about which house we would have bought, had we decided to move. We still can’t agree, which may be why we never moved there. In any event, we stayed in the mountains, and you know how things went from there.
Orange is only a few hours from our farm, and is where Country Boy’s brother lives so we get up there a couple of times each year. No matter what the season, I always love to go for a walk to the park. So we did….
Beautiful Autumn colours!
After following the Local is Lovely blog, Orange is a town very high on the places Id love to visit. There always seems to be lots going on food and festival wise.
It is just beautiful, and there are great foodie shops too. Local is lovely is on my must read blog list. Haven't made it to food week yet…. Next year.
Orange, along with Mudgee are two of my favourite places. We too seriously considered moving there with a young family many years ago. Beautiful climate, even if cold, lovely parks, great buildings and facilities. We had friends there. The best thing however was the people. Friendly and helpful, unlike another historic city nearby where at the time they were snobby and unhelpful. Hopefully changed.
