The girls have started making a weekly news bulletin called ‘Farm News’. They were inspired by some friends who do something similar. They have made up their theme song – based very closely on a kids song they like – and film it on my tablet. I then upload it to my (personal) facebook account for our friends and family to watch. It’s a great project for the kids, and a great way for them to keep in contact with their aunts, uncles and cousins. I’m on the hunt for some simple android apps to help them edit it, or make credits. Got any suggestions?
We are back from Magic Beach now. Back into groove of farm life. After having such a fantastic time with my family, I find it hard not to feel quite down at the thought of always living so far away from them. I have a lot of jobs I want to get through over the next few weeks. Keeping busy is definitely the key to moving forward. Well that, and trying to convince them all to move closer to me!
Hannah went fishing with Country Boy at Magic Beach and caught a huge flat head. She turned 9 just before Christmas – though I didn’t get a chance to publish a post (stupid lap top!), and we are definitely seeing her mature. She is more content on her own, and seems less fazed when her smaller cousins, and siblings don’t want to play her games. She has also become a voracious reader. Got any suggestions for some good series of books suitable for 9 year olds who are good readers??
Come January each year, I get the irresistible urge to reorganise the house. Last year, I went and got the girls some proper cupboards from Ikea, and Country Boy and I spent a whole week putting them together. A year later, and I still love the cupboards.
This time round I have my eyes set firmly on getting a desk to keep the laptop and lots of bits and pieces all together. Once again Ikea is calling me. I also have a whole lot of small projects which just need me to get a storage box or five.
