Thank you to all you kind people who helped me out on Tuesday night when we lost Toby’s beloved ‘Man Bag’ which was full of all his favourite diggers. I’ve sent off emails etc. Fingers crossed we get it back. Country Boy was driving while I was trying social media and phoning trying to get on to the air line, and he was a little surprised that so many people were helping us out.
This article by Steve Biddulph came through my facebook feed and it so resonated with me. It is such a struggle to raise girls in an environment that treats them as a marketing opportunity with reckless regard for their well being. I loved that it also gave me some ideas about how I can educate my girls (and boy too) about these issues.
Several people have asked me where we got Hannah’s swimmers from after my post on Wednesday. Here is the link to Babes in the shade. I love that they have good quality, sun safe, appropriate swimwear for little girls and boys (Toby’s swimmers also came from there).
The trees in the orchard have started to blossom. They are still very little, and it will be a couple of years before we get any fruit, but it is still exciting. This is a cherry tree. I won’t be eating cherries quite yet as you can see, but I am imagining the day when the trees are big.
This weekend we will be lamb marking the merino’s. It isn’t the most pleasant thing to do, but it is necessary. If we don’t mark them, they become more susceptible to becoming fly blown, which is both disgusting and makes them very sick. I will probably take the kids into our local town for the annual festival being held on Sunday.
