+ We are into the coldest 6 weeks of the year now. From the winter solstice (yesterday) till the end of July is nothing but cold days followed by freezing nights. Coats and beanies are mandatory outdoor wear, and the fire is going 24/7.
+ Look at what I picked up when I was in town this week for a work conference. I couldn’t resist. Both Toby and Meg have their birthday in the next month, so they are studying the cake book very closely!
+ We have been trying to work out what we will get the kids for their birthdays. We are stuck in that situation where we really can’t think of anything they need, and I hate the idea of just buying something because they need a present. We really try to keep the number of presents to a minimum, but at the same time make sure they have special day. It is such a hard balancing act.
+ Country Boy introduced the boar to the sow last week, so we are expecting more piglets in November. Over the holidays we are going to get another pig processed. In the meantime, we have 2 more roasts to shift and a couple of lots of chops. Pork is featuring rather heavily on the menu plan at the moment.
+ We have one more week of school till the holidays. We are heading up to the mountains for a few days in the first week, and I cannot wait! Hoping to catch up with friends and family, and enjoy some of the perks of mountain life. With the cold weather I’m thinking some time spent cooking, and movie afternoons might also be a feature of the holidays!
Have you got any good ideas for presents for 6 year old girls, and 3 year old boys?
