The holidays are here! Or they will be after today. Hopefully by 4.30 this afternoon we will be loaded up in the car and driving up to the Mountains for an extra long weekend with my family. Country Boy and I are hoping we might be able to sneak out for a night on our own (We have had one night out since we moved here!), and we are looking forward to catching up with friends, and doing a little shopping (well I am looking forward to shopping. CB thinks it is hell). It will also be nice to escape the cold weather for the relative warmth of Sydney!
The girls had Crazy Hair Day at school yesterday. Luckily I remembered Wednesday afternoon and whipped up some “crazy” ribbon head bands (no Two Dollar shops out here to pick up a cheap silly wig), and organised what they wanted to wear. Mufti days are always a huge stress here, mainly because I am unable to interpret the unexpressed creative genius of Hannah, and also because she hates anything that breaks her routine. Fortunately we made it through the morning with no melt downs.
The girls are getting tired with the end of term, and are definitely ready for a break. We might have made it through the morning without a melt down, but we made up for it in the afternoon with multiple explosions. The joys of parenting.
Our holiday plans consist of a few days in the Mountains, followed by a lot of time at home on the farm. Country Boy is eager to get the orchard ready for when the trees arrive. We will be getting a pig processed too. Hopefully I will get some time to read a few books, and try a few projects too.
Lambing of the cross breds have started. Last year we ended up with a few poddy lambs, but this year Country Boy has decided to leave the sheep alone. Sometimes going out to check on the sheep, actually causes more troubles because the sheep run away, leaving their lambs behind. We will see how it goes later. I can’t say that I am disappointed about not having to feed little lambs by hand.
