Over the weekend my parents came down for a visit. Mum and Dad love a visit to the farm. Dad rides the quad bike and goes out with Country Boy to help with farm work. Mum spends heaps of time with the kids, and tackles house work jobs that have been neglected (for which I am very grateful).
On Friday night we were discussing our plans to extend and renovate the farm house. I was looking at Pinterest for inspiration, and we were discussing walk in pantries, mud rooms, heating, double glazing, floor plans, and all those things. We went to bed late, but I couldn’t sleep because I had so many ideas going through my head.
Our house drives me crazy all the time. The kitchen has no storage, the bathroom has wallpaper instead of tiles, the rooms are odd sizes and quite dark, the carpet is a riot of mission brown, and the wiring is dodgy. (Click here to see what it looked like before we moved in). We have put in new curtains and a new fire, but that is it.
I lay there tossing and turning whilst visions of kitchens, and light filled rooms danced through my head.
I know that the renovation isn’t going to happen quickly, but it is nice to have a dream….
I would make a plan – like you said you have done the curtains. Each little things adds up. One step at a time.
This is a nice stage of renovation, the dreaming! It is my second favorite part. The actual renovating is the worst, and the nicest is when it's all finished and you are happy in your updated home 🙂 Enjoy your dreaming!
Totally agree. Looking forward to the end product, but not the process!!!
