The annual agricultural show is on this weekend. Last year we planned to go but it was rained out for the first time in history. Despite being rained out the girls got a taste of victory when they each won a prize in the pavilion.
Spurred on by the thought of winning big money ($5 for first prize, $3 for second) there are grand plans a foot in the farm house this week. We have pored over the show schedule to work out what classes to enter, and have been putting together our contributions. I think the girls have already decided what they are going to spend their prize money on ‘when’ (or if) they win!
Unfortunately there is no ‘vegetable that most looks like it’s grower’ contest, however we have Lego models made, art works created, and there are big plans to ice some biscuits and make a vegetable sculpture on Thursday afternoon. The hundreds of cucumbers that Country Boy has grown will come in handy for something.
Country Boy has been perusing the vegetable section and deciding what he will enter from the garden, and both he and I have a couple of photos we thought we might enter.
I have to work at the show – the joys of being a teacher – but the kids are looking forward to checking out the displays and eating too much sugar. We are definitely getting into the country life.
