+ School swimming lessons have now finished – thank goodness!!! The girls have been sooooo tired, but don’t mention that they are tired or they will snap at you!! Despite the tiredness, Meg seems more settled in. She is starting to be able to recognise sight words, and is very proud that she has to do ‘ Look, cover, write, check’ – all so known as spelling work.
+ The garden is absolutely heaving with produce at the moment. Country Boy is picking 20 cucumbers every second day. We also have heaps of tomatoes, and zucchinis, and plenty of beetroot. We have been making lots of dill pickled cucumber, and chutney. Country Boy made a big lot of passata (cooked tomato sauce) for us to use over winter. We have also picked another big lot of mulberries which we have frozen. Love stocking up the pantry for winter.
+ On Monday one of the pigs is going to the abattoirs. The butcher in town will cut it up for us, and make sausages etc with it all. I imagine that pork will feature rather heavily in our meal plan over the next few months.
+ Work has been sooo tiring. So much mental energy being spent just working out systems, and making decisions. Also because I am the only teacher of my subject, I have sole responsibility for all the organisation. In larger schools, there are several teachers plus support staff, so there is usually someone to share the load with… not here though. On the upside, being the only teacher means I get to do things the way I want to. Unfortunately though, by the end of the day, I often cannot string two words together, let alone put together a blog post, even though I have a lot I would like to share. Fingers crossed things settle down soon!
And because I cannot string any more words together… Happy Friday!
