Adult Conversation

This was my first week back at work since our move. When I say ‘back’, I have changed schools and am working 3 days per week rather than full time, but I am working. So far, things are going well. Like all teachers at this time of year, I have a tonne of work to do, but the kids are OK and my colleagues are friendly and helpful to the new person, and I am glad to be working.

Towards the end of the holidays, I was starting to get a bit down with the lack of adult conversation. Don’t get me wrong, I love to talk to Country Boy, but a girl needs a new face now and then. I am missing living close to our family and friends.

Nobody to talk to here!

For me, a definite down side of moving to the country has been a lack of social activity. Country Boy is loving every second of being here. He would happily be a hermit. I on the other hand, need social interaction. I know that it takes time to meet people and make friends, and over all the good things outweigh the bad. But going to work (even if it is 100km away) gives me some away time which I need at the moment.
