On
Thursday, I wrote about how we changed our plans to come down to the farm for
the holidays, so that we missed the bad weather whilst towing trailers etc.
As part
of this, I had to drive one of our cars down to the farm full of various bits
of junk. Unfortunately there was no room for the kids, so The Country Boy put
them in the other car with him. I got to drive all the way to the farm by
myself. I know I may sound excessively excited, but 4 hours of uninterrupted
time without the kids just does not happen! I didn’t have to turn around and
distribute sandwiches, open packets of tiny teddies, retrieve toys, adjust ipod
volumes, or sort out various disputes! I just had to drive!

Well I
let loose, I listened to 702 without turning the news down. I sang out of tune
to Taylor Swift, and I thought of possible blog topics I wanted to write about
(wish I could remember them all now though!), all uninterrupted (wild, I
know!).

Oddly
enough though, I felt a bit naked without the kids. When I saw the wind farm (a
standard milestone in our journey), I went to point it out to the kids, but
they weren’t there. They weren’t there to belt out Taylor Swift with me either.
I kept on having ideas that I wanted to share with The Country Boy, but he also
wasn’t there.

The
Country Boy will be getting his own back though, because I am bringing the 3
kids back by myself at the end of the holidays, while he stays to help his
parents out with lamb marking. No doubt I will be reminiscing about the quiet 4
hour drive I got on the way down!

Have your say...
