Country Life

On living through drought…

Most years around this time, I would be writing about our harvest; about how the weather has turned and we can feel Autumn is on its way. Except that this year the weather hasn’t really turned. It’s still warm during the day, and although the nights are a little cooler, it still hasn’t rained much…

The News In Brief

We’re back in the thick of school and work after the summer break. In some ways it seems as though we never stopped, but despite the busyness of the start of the year we are feeling refreshed. Over the summer we stopped to pick some wild plums growing on the sides of the road. They…

*steps up to the microphone tap tap tap… is this thing on??? Hello! Long time no blog. I’ve thought of at least a dozen things to blog about over the last however long, but none of them inspired me enough to actually open up ye olde computer and type something in. Life has been full with work and kids…

Twelve Months Later

It’s been 12 months since we moved back to our freshly renovated farmhouse. Boy does time fly! Not a day goes by where I don’t feel so lucky to live in a beautiful light-filled house. It feels both very new, and also like we have always lived here. Talk about a paradox! Life really has…

Lately | June 2018

Loving: Cooler days – at last. We have the fire going day and night now, and although it produces a lot of dust, you cannot beat it for a beautiful warm house! Watching:  The Crown, and all the David Attenborough documentaries we can. We finally have enough data to be able to use Netflix so I…

Autumn Glory

Good Things

ONE I picked up these gorgeous tile trivets when I was in Sydney last week with Hannah. We went to see Ed Sheeran concert last week  (we gave her the tickets for her birthday in December) and took the opportunity to spend a few hours wandering the city and exploring all the things we can’t…

Full And Thorough Holiday Reporting

You guys, I have begun half a dozen blog posts in the last few weeks, and then they sit there in my drafts folder and go no further. I don’t know about you, but the summer holidays have whizzed by, and I’ve been back at work for a week now (insert sad face). I’m taking…

We’re getting to the end of the summer break 😭. The kids have been staying up late, sleeping in, swimming and kayaking on the dam, reading and watching movies, and giving the LEGO a good run. I’ve been reading, sorting out things (it’s what I do in January), binge watching Netflix, and cooking. In the evenings I go for a walk and always arrive back to this view as the sun is setting. Also, I haven’t taken down the Christmas lights yet, and I probably won’t for a while longer because they are so pretty. Not ready for summer to end!

I even pulled everything out on the bathroom vanity and gave it a purge and deep clean. I have no idea how half the stuff got there 🤷‍♀️. For me January is a time to reset the house, de clutter and get sorted. Something about a new year perhaps? 🤔
Anyhow, here’s a pic of my freshly decobwebbed (totally a word) window which makes me happy- just don’t look too closely!

Perfect comfort food with a hot drink when it feels like the world has gone mad.
