My goodness the year is winding up quickly. End of year reports are almost due for work, and of course, there is way too much to do, and not enough time to do it! Despite the busyness, I love this time of year – the warm weather, and the excitement of the impending Christmas season. So here is some of the little things that have been happening around the farm.
Making: Christmas decorations like this and this… and a few more as well.
Cooking: Jam drops, and jam, and lots of broad bean dishes.
Reading: exams that I am marking – errrk (marking is my least favourite part of the job).
Wanting: the new Bill Bryson book for Christmas (hint hint CB)
Looking: at kitchens and bathrooms on Pinterest.
Playing: Settlers of Catan with my parents when they came to visit.
Deciding: on Christmas gifts for the kids.
Wishing: upon a star.
Enjoying: crocheting a blanket for Hannah
Waiting: for the kids to pick up their junk off their bedroom floor.
Liking: listening to Meg tell me all about her new book “Gangsta Granny”, by David Walliams. Totally recommended.
Wondering: if the fertile eggs we popped under a broody chicken will hatch. Fingers crossed for some little chicks.
Loving: taking the camera out for a spin.
Pondering: why so many people find it hard to understand that we don’t drink alcohol.
Considering: future ideas for the blog – I’ve got a few good ones!
Buying: Christmas presents.
Watching: Australia vs Kyrgyzstan live with the family. I’m going for Australia…. because I can’t pronounce Kyrgyzstan.
Hoping: our DA for the house extension goes through with out any hiccups.
Marvelling: at the kids cubby house creation down the bottom of the house yard. They have dragged planks and bits of metal to build quite the installation… and decorated it with animal skulls they have found in the paddock. #countrykids.
Cringing: at Michelle Bridges’ video for Woolworths. If growing your own veges makes you a freak, then I’m a freak… but at least a freak with fresh vegetables.
Smelling: roses from my mother in law’s garden.
Wearing: a whole lot of new tops that one of my colleagues passed on to me. Win!
Noticing: the hills around the farm are browning off. Summer is almost here!
Knowing: that end of year reports for school will be due very soon. Yuk!
Thinking: about how we can get up to the mountains again before Christmas.
Sorting: small things like the pen bucket. Small things make a difference though.
Getting: excited about Christmas and our week at “Magic Beach” with my whole family. It’s our favourite time of year!
Coveting: pretty, functional kitchens.
Disliking: hay fever.
Opening: broad bean and green pea pods.
Giggling: at Toby. He told me that since adult children can’t live in their parents house, he is going to build his house right next to ours. Let’s see if he is still keen in 20 years time.
Feeling: overwhelmed by work.
Snacking: on home made fruit leather.
Helping: make scones for the kids school.
Hearing: Jingle Jingle Jesus by Colin Buchanan played repeatedly – it’s Toby’s fave at the moment.
