Hooray for September! Spring is in the air, and not a moment too soon. Even with some sickness keeping us down for a few weeks, we are glad to be out of the worst of the winter cold. The fire is still lit each evening, but we often let it go out during the day. The kids are peeling off jumpers by mid morning, and I’m having to remind them to put on their hats again.
I don’t know about you, but September always jolts me back into action after a few months of hibernating. We’ve worked out what is happening for Christmas, and I’ve got ideas and plans for the warm weather. All in all, September is one of my favourite months of the year.
Here is what else has been happening around the place:
Making: plans… and a crochet ripple blanket (still!).
Cooking: pickled beetroot to use up all the beetroot Country Boy harvested, rhubarb muffins to keep the kids fed.
Drinking: still more hot milo – it never changes over the cooler months.
Reading: Kitchens of the great midwest.
Wanting: not much at the moment.
Looking: at summer sandals and tshirts on line.
Playing: outside in the sun.
Deciding: on cladding and design options for our extension(!!!!).
Wishing: the extensions was already finished.
Enjoying: Problogger 2015 on the Gold Coast last month. So lovely to meet blog friends in real life, and so many ideas for the future.
Liking: time at home, working on some of my own projects.
Wondering: what to do about our music collection. I’d love to have a streaming service, but we just don’t have the data.
Loving: that Toby suddenly wants to write his name on all his drawings and creations. There are lots of T.O.B.Y’s everywhere.
Pondering: how is it that my boy is almost big enough for school. I’m not ready for this!
Considering: what flavours of sausage to make this weekend.
Buying: clothes for the kids, shoes for me.
Watching: Downton Abbey – I got through series one and two while I was sick.
Hoping: for a good Spring!
Marvelling: at the beauty of our farm at this time of year.
Cringing: at people who cannot behave like adults in public.
Needing: a few tshirts and a pair of shoes.
Questioning: so many things!
Smelling: the jonquils and spring blossoms.
Wearing: fewer layers. My new Boom Shankar dress.
Following: lots of interesting people on instagram.
Noticing: the days are getting longer.
Knowing: I need to make sure dinner gets started before it gets dark. I always get caught at this time of year!
Thinking: about new dinner ideas. We are a bit stuck in a rut at the moment.
Sorting: summer clothes for the kids. Can’t believe it’s come around to this again already!
Getting: a sausage stuffer to make sausages.
Bookmarking: sausage making recipes and tips.
Coveting: Still that Canon 5d mark III. Good things come to those who wait…. eventually.
Disliking: the chest infection which has knocked the whole family over for the week.
Opening: letters from our cousin.
Feeling: excited about the holidays – my goodness I’m ready for them!
Hearing: Harry Potter audio books being played all day by enthusiastic girls.
And that, my friends, was September!
What did your September look like at your place?
