{DIY} Easy Christmas Windows

December 10, 2012 by Jo@CountryLifeExperiment 11 Comments

Last year I wrote about how we make a Christmas window each year, but because we were moving house, I didn’t actually get to show you the finished product. Fortunately, this year we are not moving house again (once a year is more than enough!) so I thought I would show you how I make them!

I usually do the design and cut it out before I involve the kids because it takes a while and they don’t have the patience to wait. I did this on Saturday night. I use two star biscuit cutters to get the star shape, but the rest I just sketch. As you can see it is far from perfect, but I like the imperfections. The palm tree is a new idea this year too.

I usually scribble on the areas I want to cut out to make it easy. I use a paper knife and a board underneath to cut out the design.

Peel and apply the contact (sticky backed plastic) in a big piece to the back of the cardboard.

Cut up coloured cellophane into small pieces. Apply the pieces to the sticky side of the contact.

Hang up on a window! So easy!!!

Click on the link up the top for some simpler ideas and step  by step instructions.

We made some very small cellophane windows, but nothing as impressive as this! Will have to remember for next year.

That looks great! I am not sure if cutting out the background is easy though. Thanks for the tutorial!
