On Saturday after we planted the trees, we went for a walk to the river near by. The term river is used fairly loosely here – really it is more of a creek.
Once we got to the river we sat on the big rocks, and threw leaves in the water, watching them run down the rapids.
The kids took their boots off, and sat with their toes in the water. It was way too cold for me, but the water was refreshing after the walk.
The splashing got more frenzied after a while.
I was holding on to Toby so that he wouldn’t fall in – he was not happy about it.
Possibly though, I should have been holding on to Meg, who did end up in the water, and then dropped her bundle. What is a family outing without at least one child loosing it for a few minutes?
Once we realised a wet bottom wasn’t the end of the world, we splashed some more before drying our feet in the sun, putting on our boots and heading back home.
Love a simple family activity on a sunny morning.
