|CB took photos of the storm on Friday|
Friday seemed to be the last hurrah for winter (I hope). We had freezing wind, sleet, rain, and hail. When I got home it was straight into the ugg boots and soft pants.
Saturday dawned cold and clear, then warmed up a little. Meghann begged to be able to wear shorts and t-shirts because it was Spring. I remember doing the same thing when I was her age.
I took the kids into town to get new tyres on the car. While we were waiting I did a little shopping then treated us all to hot chocolate in one of the cafes. It is not often that the kids go to town now, so it was a bit of an adventure. I enjoyed the civilised feeling of sitting in a beautiful cafe – something I definitely miss from my old life in the mountains.
When we got back, the kids ran around outside digging treasures out of the dirt, and I started cutting up a whole lot of fabric. I am one of those people who buys Christmas fabric compulsorily, so I decided to make some bunting. I have taken some photos, and will show you all when I have finished.
As the kids were eating lunch, my in-laws drove in the gate after being away for the last 3 months. The afternoon was spent catching up with them, and then Country Boy made an amazing parsnip and pear puree which he served with pork chops, broccoli, and some caramelised balsamic vinegar. It was gorgeous. Hannah and Toby went back for thirds.
Fathers day breakfast was pancakes cooked by yours truly, followed by presents. Hannah had bought CB a notebook with calculator and pen so he could “put it in his pocket when he has to count the sheep”. So cute.
My Brother and Sister in-law came down for lunch, so we had a leisurely time chatting and catching up over a roast. Toby missed his sleep, and was cuddly and gorgeous, and all 3 kids loved being spoilt by their grandparents.
After an exciting weekend, we put the kids to bed early after a dinner of 2 minute noodles, and collapsed on the couch.
We have got used to not having my in-laws around, and now it feels funny to have them back again. Time flies when you are having fun!
